چکیده

The Strong Consensus (SC) is a variant of the conventional distributed consensus problem. The protocol designed for the SC problem requires that the agreed value among fault-free processors be one of the fault-free processor's initial value. The SC problem is re-examined with the assumption of mixed failure types (also referred to as the hybrid fault model). Compared with the features of the existing protocols, the underlying network topologies of the proposed protocol do not have to be fully connected, the mixed failure types can be tolerated, and no prior information of the system's faulty status is required. The proposed protocol can tolerate a maximum number of faults to enable each fault-free processor to reach an agreement with a minimum number of message exchanges. © 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Inc. Strategy Formulation for Service Failure Recovery, Using Mixed Research Method

The purpose of this study is to explain the strategies affecting the failure recovery in significant services which researches had previously disregarded. Since more than half of the total global wealth comes from the service sector, this study gains importance. Service failures and failed recoveries are among the leading causes of customer switching behavior from service organizations. The exi...

Reaching Strong Consensus in a General Network

The strong consensus (SC) problem is a variant of the conventional distributed consensus problem (also known as the Byzantine agreement problem). The SC problem requires that the agreed value among fault-free processors be one of the fault-free processor’s initial values. Originally, the problem was studied in a fully connected network with malicious faulty processors. In this paper, the SC pro...

The Gap in Circumventing the Consensus Impossibility

The seminal impossibility of reaching consensus in an asynchronous and crash prone system was established for a weak variant of the problem, usually called weak consensus, where a set of processes need to decide on a common value out of two possible values 0 or 1. On the other hand, abstractions that were shown to be, in some precise sense, minimal to circumvent the impossibility were determine...

Determining the factors related to diabetes type II with mixed logistic regression

Background and aims: Diabetes type II (non-insulin dependent) which is one of the most prevalent diabetes types in the world emerges in people with the age of above 55 and genetic and environmental factors interfere in this disease. The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting diabetes type II with generalized mixed linear model. Methods: ...

Using Failure Detectors to Solve Consensus in Asynchronous Shared-memory Systems 1 Background and Overview of Results

Chandra and Toueg proposed a new approach to overcome the impossibility of reaching consensus in asynchronous message-passing systems subject to crash failures 6]. They augment the asynchronous message-passing system with a (possibly unreliable) failure detector. Informally , a failure detector provides some information about the processes that have crashed during an execution of the system. In...
